Kid Rock's 40th Birthday present, a 2011 Chevy Camaro SS

Kid Rock is not stranger to the Motor City. As the self-appointed goodwill ambassador for Detroit, Michigan, Kid Rock celebrated his 40th birthday with a HUGE concert at Ford Field in Detroit on Saturday, September 15th. This show was so big, they moved the Monster Jam event, originally scheduled for that night, to the weekend prior.

This show was not unlike previous appearances with high profile guests like Sheryl Crow, Uncle Kracker, J. Giels front man Peter Wolf, Rev Run (Run DMC) and others. This blowout event showcased one of his presents, a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS customized with a Made in Detroit theme. This custom, blacked out Camaro features the Made In Detroit logo on the rear deck lid and fuel filler door, black custom wheels and a replica of the American Badass tattoo that spans across Kid Rocks back.

Reports state this was a gift from Chevrolet, and others say it came from NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson. We were not able to confirm the source, but I'm sure we will hear more details about this cool Camaro very soon. Stay tuned!

The new Camaro through the eyes of Danny L Whitfield

The Automotive Art of Danny L Whitfield

What price do you put on art?

The art world is a crazy place, and there seems to be no limit as to what the next renaissance masterpiece will fetch. The same collector mayhem happens in the muscle car world, with top examples of our favorite cars going for millions of dollars. Artist Danny Whitfield has priced his art masterpieces of classic cars at very reasonable prices. His awesome collection is offered in two sizes, 16 x 20 ($70), and 20 x 24 ($90).

The fifth generation Camaro is currently the hottest car on the planet! We know you may have one that's customized with parts from Chevrolet or aftermarket suppliers. That's why Danny's offering a diverse collection of prints to chose from.

But the best part is getting YOUR print customized the way YOU want it!  If you have a really tricked out Camaro or just want to match what you bought from the Chevy dealership, visit his web site today!  www.dannywhitfield.com

New 12v 2010 Camaro SS kiddie car coming in November

National Products plans to release a 12 volt battery powered 2010 Camaro SS replica in November, just in time for the 2011 Camaro convertible to be released by GM.  This version even has an auxiliary port to play music from their MP3 player!

Available at the Chevy Mall, the Chevrolet Camaro 2 Seater 12v Kids Car is set to start shipping in November, list price appears to be around $350.  I can't wait to see the list of mods to show up on the internet in December.

Here are the specs:

The 12-volt battery propels two passengers at a cruising speed of up to 5 mph when the gas pedal is pressed; releasing the pedal brings the car to a smooth stop. Color: Red.

The car's interior keeps young drivers entertained with electronic sound buttons that play different authentic effects. The vehicle has a MP3 outlet for the young rider to play music from any MP3 and/or iPod.

The vehicle runs for up to one hour on a full charge. Charging time takes approx 8-10 hours with the included AC charger. Vehicle measures 61 inches long x 29.5 inches tall x 23 inches wide. Supports up to 130 lbs. Weight of vehicle is 75 lbs. For ages 3 - 7. Meets or exceeds all safety and quality control government guidelines.

It looks like there will be a new Camaro in my garage sooner than later, at least the kids can enjoy their new Camaro.

Which Cold Air Intake for your Camaro SS?

Installing an aftermarket Cold Air Intake is one of the most common performance modifications on late model cars.  A CAI (cold air intake) is used to improve the flow and lower the temperature of the air going into the motor.  The result is increased efficiency and power.  These kits come in various shapes and sizes, installation is fairly easy and can be performed by any backyard mechanic with a few basic tools.

GM High Tech Performance magazine recently tested seven of the top CAI packages out there on a 2010 Camaro SS LS3.

The test consisted of the following basic steps:
  • Install intake system
  • Reset fuel trims and begin data logging
  • Observe idle quality
  • Observe low speed driveability
  • Observe part-throttle driving, in traffic and around town
  • Data log two wide-open throttle runs, back-to-back from 3,500 to 6,500 rpm in Second gear
  • 45 minutes of cool down, change air intake system Rinse and repeat
Very interesting article, to see the complete test and the results, see the article here.

2011 Camaro details released

Chevrolet released a few details about the 2011 Camaro earlier today. While we were hoping for some V8 related performance details in  light of the recent web storm of 2011 Mustang GT performance, we did get a litle glimpse of what is coming for the Camaro.

  • Horsepower increase for V6 engine
  • Synergy color to be made available across the lineup
  • Head-Up Display

The V6 Camaro is rated at312 HP for 2011. This is slightly above the 305 HP rated V6 we hear is going to be in the 2011 Mustang.  "The 304 horsepower in the 2010 Camaro was actually a conservative rating on our end," said Tom Sutter, GM V-6 chief engineer. "But we knew already that this award-winning engine produced at least the amount of power we stated, but now we've gone the extra step in certifying the engine for this application and have verified an additional 8 horsepower."

Synergy Green will now be available on all Camaro models in 2011. According to Chevrolet, this will be a limited run color however.

Following the lead of the Chevrolet Corvette, HUD (Heads Up Display) will be available on some Camaro models in the 2011 model year.
