First 2013 Camaro ZL1 convertible sells for $150,000

And the First Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 convertible sells for $150,000 at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, AZ this weekend! All proceeds will benefit Achilles International and their programs supporting wounded veterans.

First 2014 Corvette Stingray sells for $1.05 Million


Rick Hendrick, NASCAR team owner, is no stranger to high performance automobiles. He is a regular at the Barrett-Jackson auction events and made an appearance this weekend as well.

The first 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray VIN #001 sold Saturday night, at the 42nd annual Barrett-Jackson auction, for a cool $1.05 Million! Who bought it? Rick Hendrick, of course. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan.

He also bought two other rare Corvettes, the 1958 Corvette owned by GM CEO Dan Akerson ($270,000) and the 1968 Owens/Corning L88 Corvette Race Car ($1M).

Hendrick is an avid collector. Some of his previous purchases include;

  • First 2010 Camaro SS - $350,000
  • First 2011 Camaro SS convertible - $205,000
  • First 2012 Camaro ZL1 - $250,000
  • First 2011 Corvette Z06 Carbon Edition - $270,000

The much anticipated 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is now in production!

Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports, joined the GM Oshawa team February 1, 2012 to celebrate the most powerful Camaro ever produced by GM.

The first, retail production, Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 features a black exterior, optional Carbon Fiber weave hood insert and a power sunroof. The black leather interior is complimented by suede microfiber inserts on the seats, dash, steering wheel and shift knob.

“This is an exciting new chapter in the ongoing revival of the tremendously popular Chevrolet Camaro,” said Kevin Williams, president and managing director of GM of Canada. “The new 2012 Camaro ZL1 is the most-powerful Camaro ever produced by Chevrolet and further demonstrates the flexible capabilities of the award-winning Oshawa Assembly Plant.”

The Camaro ZL1 is powered by 580 HP, 556 lb-ft of torque and will get you from 0-60 MPH in just 3.9 seconds. They will arrive at dealers for retail sale by mid-March 2012. For the bargain price of $58,000, it will have ZL1 owners saying "Mustang who?"
