With one of the hottest selling cars on the planet, GM is not standing still with the Chevrolet Camaro. Word is out about a new 330HP V6 planned for the 2012 Camaro, code name "LFX". This possible power train would be based on the LF1 V6 motor found in the Cadillac CTS, SRX and the Chevrolet Equinox.
This new V6 would have dual-overhead cams, variable valve timing, spark-ignition direct injection and be E85 compatible. These improvements could add up 330HP and more than likely, even better fuel mileage.
Put this in the base model Camaro and the Ford Mustang would have even more catching up to do in the pony car race.

2011 Camaro details released
Chevrolet released a few details about the 2011 Camaro earlier today. While we were hoping for some V8 related performance details in light of the recent web storm of 2011 Mustang GT performance, we did get a litle glimpse of what is coming for the Camaro.- Horsepower increase for V6 engine
- Synergy color to be made available across the lineup
- Head-Up Display
The V6 Camaro is rated at312 HP for 2011. This is slightly above the 305 HP rated V6 we hear is going to be in the 2011 Mustang. "The 304 horsepower in the 2010 Camaro was actually a conservative rating on our end," said Tom Sutter, GM V-6 chief engineer. "But we knew already that this award-winning engine produced at least the amount of power we stated, but now we've gone the extra step in certifying the engine for this application and have verified an additional 8 horsepower."
Synergy Green will now be available on all Camaro models in 2011. According to Chevrolet, this will be a limited run color however.
Following the lead of the Chevrolet Corvette, HUD (Heads Up Display) will be available on some Camaro models in the 2011 model year.

Motor Trend big 3 shootout
Motor Trend magazine put the 2010 Camaro SS LS3, 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 and the 2010 Challenger SRT8 through the paces.
While we agree with the interior/visibility comments regarding the Camaro, was it really reason enough to put the Camaro in third place? Second to the overweight, overpriced, underpowered Challenger? You be the judge.
Looking at the pre-production performance numbers of the V6 and 5.0l 2011 Mustang, GM had better up the stakes a bit with the 2011 Camaro. Some details are due later this week, stay tuned to the blog for 2011 Camaro information!
